SUMMARY:Scientist II
DESCRIPTION:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced industry scientist to join our Epigenetics Center of Excellence. The successful candidate will have a well-documented background of scientific expertise in epigenetics with a high interest in drug discovery and translational medicine. He/she will work on drug discovery projects focused on epigenetic targets. Specifically\, the candidate will be expected to design\, plan and execute biological studies for identifying new targets in various therapeutic areas and for profiling development compounds within the area of epigenetics. \nThis position requires a PhD in biology\, solid understanding in Epigenetics and at least 5 years of productive research experience in epigenetics\, as evidenced by an excellent publication record. \nSkills/Knowledge Required: \n\nExperience in epigenetic profiling studies (DNA methylation\, RNA-sequencing\, ChIP-sequencing and ATAC-sequencing) and strong knowledge in enhancer-mediated regulation of the genome.\nExperience in single cell transcriptomic and epigenetic profiling is highly desired.\nExperience in target validation\, functional and biomarker cell-based assay development.\nProficient in cell biology including shRNA and CRISPR technologies\nHighly motivated\, innovative and strong team player.\nExcellent time management and organizational skill.\nStrong communication skills\, both written and oral.\nStrong ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential.\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability for creative thinking and problem solving.Functional/Scientific/Technical Skills:\n• Developing cross-functional scientific knowledge. \n• Draw appropriate conclusions and make recommendations on next steps. \n• Demonstrate ability to write peer reviewed quality work. \n• Able to write invention disclosure for patent application\, technical reports\, technical protocols. \n• Scientific expert in specific area. \n• General awareness of drug discovery and development process. \nTasks and Responsibilities: \n• Acts as a liaison between Project Team and functional area. \n• Lead scientist on projects. \n• Identify and recommend new technology. \n• Provide scientific direction. \n• Ownership of compliance and identification of potential gaps. \n• Potential to manage and/or coordinates workflow on projects. \n• Align science and functional area goals with business strategies. \n• Manage resources appropriately. \nDiscretion/Latitude: \n• Works as an individual contributor. \n• Viewed as an expert within the department. \nCreativity and Problem Solving: \n• Critically assesses projects and formulates ideas to increase success. \n• Contributes ideas and develops case or position inside the department. \n• Able to contribute to multiple projects. \n• Able to recognize patterns/trends in data and apply new research directions. \n• Stays informed of project trends\, issues and organizes priorities related to own work.
