DESCRIPTION:How to Apply\nSend CV to: \nDepartment of Pediatrics Division of Hematology/Oncology \nOffice of Faculty Affairs \nMedical Professional Building\, Room D3216 \nAnn Arbor\, MI  48109-5718 \nJob Summary\nThe University of Michigan\, Department of Pediatrics is seeking candidates for a Research Investigator position in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. \nBasic functions and responsibilities \nUnder direct supervision of the Principal Investigator perform scientific research in the field of pediatric oncology. Participate in a leadership role supervising junior research staff and support personnel. Participate in extra-mural grant writing and academic authorship. \nDuties and responsibilities: \n\nIndependently implement technical procedures for assignments (50%)\, including:\n\nPerform genetic manipulation and genetic analysis of MSC’s and cancer cell lines. (CRISPR-Cas9\, CRISPR-I and RNAi) supervise/train lab members in these experiments\nPerform immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy\, supervise/train lab members in these experiments\nPerform RNA-seq\, ChIP-seq\, Mass spec\, Histone PTM and data integration analysis\, supervise/train lab members in these experiments\n\n\nParticipate in formulating research methods and suggest options for improving quality\nAssist other team members in their projects\nIndependently participate in academic authorship of manuscripts and grants related to lab work (25%)\nMake recommendations on best technical approaches to investigate a scientific problem\nIndependently implement technical procedures for assignments.\nParticipate in laboratory meetings\nResponsible for accurate record keeping\nInteract with collaborators as necessary to provide interpretation of study results\nCommunicate and make recommendations to other scientists in the team\nTrain personnel in existing laboratory techniques and procedures\, explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities\, operation limitation and outcomes (25%)\n\nSupervision Received \nDirection is received from the Principal Investigator. Staff members in this classification are expected to work independently and in collaboration with other laboratory personnel\, regularly exercise good judgment in setting priorities\, resolving operational problems and the application of procedures\, methods and policies.  \n Supervision Exercised \nFunctional supervision may be exercised over lab assistant\, graduate students and other junior personnel \nRequired Qualifications*\nQualifications Required:  \n\nPhD degree and at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience in a recognized field of science directly related to the position\nExceptional work ethic in a highly competitive environment\nAbility to communicate clearly the results of his/her experiments to other team members\nStrong knowledge of molecular and cell biology\, especially in the field of epigenetics and oncology\nProficiency in Microsoft Word\, PowerPoint\, Excel\, and GraphPad Prism\nFamiliarity with basic laboratory instrumentation and maintenance of laboratory equipment \nProficient in record keeping\nA solid command of tissue culture and in conducting studies in an enhanced BSL-2 environment is necessary\nKnowledge of bioinformatics tools for data analysis and interpretation\nHands on skills and experience with all standard molecular and cell biology techniques (e.g. qPCR\, ChIP-PCR\, IP and Co-IP\, Cloning\, Western blot\, microscopy\, genetic modification)\nAdvanced skills in ChIP-seq and proteomics approaches\n\nQualifications Desired: \n\nMinimum seven years of directly related laboratory experience.
