SUMMARY:Research Scientist
DESCRIPTION:RESEARCH SCIENTIST\, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Sharp Lab\, to join a laboratory involved in and contribute significantly to the design and execution of research experiments aimed at the discovery of processes related to RNA biology. Will conduct and participate in research for the development of therapeutics and diagnostics that may be useful treating\, preventing\, intercepting\, and/or diagnosing diseases specifically cancer. Responsibilities include focusing on genetic\, cellular\, and epigenetic changes accompanying and controlling cancer initiation and progression using skills in computation involving large data sets; the analysis of systems of gene expression; contributing to executing research aims; establishing research strategy; reporting; planning and writing animal and other protocols\, manuscripts\, and reports; and performing other duties as needed. \n\n\nJob Requirements\n \nREQUIRED: Ph.D. in medicine and biomedical science; extensive knowledge of cancer biology\, related fields\, and latest applicable laboratory techniques; ability to conceptualize and write proposals and publishable manuscripts\, evaluate and train junior researchers\, innovate\, and conduct research; meticulous attention to detail; strong organizational\, documentation\, interpersonal\, and communication skills; comfort summarizing and reporting results; ability to work collaboratively\, follow safety procedures\, and maintain a safe work environment; and discretion and judgment with confidential information and/or issues. Familiarity with physiology; cell and molecular biology; immunology; animal testing of biologics; materials science; and/or histological\, biochemical\, and mechanical analyses would be ideal. There will be travel to one to four scientific conferences per year for the dissemination of scientific results and occasional evening/night/weekend work to complete laboratory protocols and meet publication deadlines. Job #16870 \nThis is a one-year\, term-limit appointment with a possible extension based upon continued funding.
