SUMMARY:Postdoctoral Positions - Gene Regulation\, Epigenetics and/or Cancer Biology
DESCRIPTION:Postdoctoral associate positions available for highly motivated candidates with a fresh PHD training in molecular & cell biology\, cancer biology and/or biochemistry to join the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center\, the Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics\, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) School of Medicine\, USA. Those with a strong publication track record are also potentially eligible for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship program available from UNC Cancer Center Postdoc Trainee programs (eligibility: 1\, within less than 1-2 years since completion of PHD training; 2\, US citizen or permanent resident). \nOur laboratory emphasizes on mechanistic understandings of gene regulation\, chromatin biology\, stem cells\, and human disease\, notably cancer (see our recent publications at Molecular Cell 2013\, Blood 2015\, Cell Reports 2015; Cancer Cell 2016). Multiple on-going projects include (1) biochemical characterization of novel factors/complexes that recognize the novel chromatin modifications; (2) CRISPR/dCas9-based editing of epigenomic modifications for understanding the epigenetic pathways in gene expression; (3) knockout and knock-in mouse models with deficiency in histone methylation regulation in context of development and tumorigenesis\, with a special focus on hematopoietic cancer and disease; (4) epigenomic and transcriptome analyses (ChIP-Seq and RNA-Seq) of normal versus cancer cells to delineate pathways essential for tumor growth. \nThe salary of postdoc positions meets new federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) with a minimum salary of $47\,476 annually. Applicants should be self-motivated with a track record of publication in the above area\, have laboratory and analytical skills\, and be a critical thinker.
