SUMMARY:Postdoctoral Associate - Breast Cancer
DESCRIPTION:The Slingerland lab of the Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute at the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate who will carry out advanced independent and/or directed research to achieve research project objectives in areas of cell cycle regulation\, signal transduction\, cancer stem cell biology\, transcriptional regulation and epigenetics. The duties will require the exercise of independent discretion and judgment in carrying out research activities within the predetermined research scope and methodology. Duties assigned to this position involve using in-depth knowledge\, developing research methods\, organizing and implementing complex research plans\, analysis and evaluation of data\, and writing manuscripts for publication of research findings. The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principle Investigator who is the Director of the Braman Family Breast Cancer Center and will conduct research\, ensuring that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of the University of Miami. \nThe minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Ph.D. in a relevant field of study including cellular and molecular biology\, immunology\, stem cell or cancer research. Candidates must have successfully defended their thesis to be eligible for consideration\, and possess the following characteristics: 1) broad knowledge of cancer research and experience in human cell/tissue culture\, molecular biological techniques\, experimental experience with animal models (prior experience in epigenetics research and inducible mouse models of cancer is desirable but not required). 2) ability to plan\, organize and meet deadlines is required. 3) must be highly motivated and have an ability to pay close attention to detail. 4) excellent communication skills\, both verbal and written\, with the ability to professionally interact and collaborate with others. 5) knowledge and experience using Microsoft Word\, Excel and PowerPoint. 6) ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently. 7) ability to apply logic and demonstrate problem solving skills.
