SUMMARY:Visiting Fellow - Neuro Oncology
DESCRIPTION:Providence is calling a full time\, day shift Visiting Fellow to Providence John Wayne Cancer Institute Santa Monica\, CA. \nIn this position you will: \n\nObserve clinical and intraoperative management of intracranial disease.\nObserve and participate in basic science research projects including genetic and epigenetic evaluation of metastatic brain tumors and benign intracranial lesions.\nBe in the neuroanatomy lab and participate with the dissections.\nParticipate in clinical studies including chart reviews and case series analyzing intracranial disease characteristics and outcomes.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS: \nRequired qualifications for this position include: \n\nCompleted the equivalent of undergraduate education and medical school with a doctor of medicine degree.\nExperience in the field of neurological surgery. He should be in the process of completing a residency in that field.\nCompetent in the English language with verbal\, writing\, and communication skills.\nScientific publication experience is recommended.\nAbility to deal effectively with many people across a broad range of cultural backgrounds and ages.\nAbility to work independently with little or no supervision.\nProficient in P.C. software applications including\, Microsoft Word\, Excel\, PowerPoint\, Outlook\, etc.\nAbility to prioritize\, organize and coordinate work.\nAbility to work effectively with many people at various levels of the organization.\nExcellent oral and written communication skills.\nAbility to handle multiple tasks and appropriately prioritize.\nAbility to clearly communicate with internal and external customers\, including\, but not limited to\, patients\, co-workers\, management\, physicians\, and visitors.\nAbility to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance to hospital policy.\n\nAbout the hospital you will serve: \nThe John Wayne Cancer Institute at Providence Saint John’s Health Center is a cancer research institute dedicated to the understanding and curing of cancer in order to eliminate patient suffering worldwide.
