SUMMARY:Laboratory Technician
DESCRIPTION:The Section of Hematology/Oncology has a proud and long tradition of excellence in research-based patient care and clinical discovery. Ranked among the finest cancer programs in the country\, the Section is comprised of nationally and internationally known faculty with expertise in all major types of malignancies\, blood disorders\, and experimental therapies. Principal contributions are scientific or intellectual\, characterized by originality and creativity. Research related to cancer genetics\, cancer biology and epigenetics.   \nThe Laboratory Technician will perform research related to cancer biology and developmental therapeutics. The laboratory research focuses on understanding the role of genomic and proteomic ongocenic drivers of gastroesophageal and other gastrointestinal cancers. Preclinical cell line and patient xenograft modeling in vitro and vivo respectively. The position requires the ability to perform tasks independently and with minimal supervision. Collaborations with other laboratories and investigators within the Section and Department are routine. \n60% — Performing laboratory techniques such as RNA and DNA extractions\, real time PCR\, genotyping\, immunoblotting\, siRNA\, point mutation\, cell culture\, flow cytometry and other in vitro/vivo cell based assays. \n30% — Collate and analyze data. Maintain accurate\, up-to-date and well-documented records of procedures performed and data generated. Summarize results and assist in interpreting findings including analysis of DNA sequencing. \n10% — Collect and process clinical samples \nExperience: 1-2 years of laboratory experience is required. \nExperience in cell culture\, western blotting\, PCR\, siRNA\, RNA and DNA extractions from cell lines and FFPE tissues preferred. \nPrevious clinical laboratory experience is a plus. \nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Biology\, Molecular Genetics\, Cell Biology\, Medical Technology\, Biochemistry or related discipline required.
