SUMMARY:Research Specialist
DESCRIPTION:The University of Illinois College of Medicine has a Research Specialist position open for studying the pathogenesis of medulloblastoma (MB) and developing new molecular subgroup specific therapeutic approaches in MB. These projects investigate the roles of immune checkpoints and epigenetic modifiers in the development of MB and establish the logical basis for novel therapy using transgenic/knockout mouse models of MB. The candidate will also be involved in other projects in the laboratory\, focusing on basic science and Cancer Biology. The successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in science or related field. Master’s degree or PhD in science is preferred. Also a minimum of 3 years intensive experience in two or more of the following areas: cancer biology\, epigenetics\, molecular biology\, immunology\, mouse model systems\, and viral vectors. Background checks will be performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.  \nDuties:  \nJob Duties \n• Manage and lead research projects for publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific meetings. \n• Formulate experimental methods and conduct research experiments and analyses. \n• Prepare and write scientific findings and works for publications in peer-reviewed journals and grant applications\, and present findings and works at scientific meetings. \n• Participate in designing experiments\, teaching students and lab personnel\, and lab meeting to enhance and promote research and educational activities. \n• Ensure compliance with regulations and good laboratory practice and maintain research records. \n• Assist the principal investigator\, collaborators and lab personnel with research and educational activities.  \nQualifications: \nQualifications  \nBachelor’s degree in science or related field. Master’s degree or PhD in science preferred.  \n• Minimum 3 years intensive related research experience cancer biology\, immunology\, molecular and cellular biology or related biomedical fields.  \n• Strong experience and publications in two or more of the following areas: cancer biology and cellular\, epigenetics\, immunology\, in vivo mouse models\, exosomes\, microRNAs and adeno-associated vectors.
