You can choose among the following 2018 topics: \n\nStrengthening capacities of patient groups across the health system\nBuilding cancer awareness and prevention programmes\nUsing the law and policymaking for cancer prevention and control\nCreating fit-for-partnering organisations\n\n– mark your calendar with our social events(link is external) which are useful platforms to network and catch up with colleagues and friends \n– discover top notch plenary speakers(link is external) and meet them in person at the Meet’in Café \n– engage with leading advocates and patient support groups in the Patient Group Pavilion(link is external) \n– secure a stand in the Global Village(link is external) – the heart of the Congress – and shine a light on your initiatives and activities. \nPlease note: registration for Master Courses and social events are made through the official 2018 Congress registration system(link is external). \n\n  \n\nAbout the World Cancer Congress – A major event in the global cancer control agenda\nThe World Cancer Congress (WCC) is a recognised international conference that encourages effective knowledge transfer and best practices exchange amongst + 3000 global cancer control and health experts. \nIt was awarded ‘Best Conference Development’ at the 2016 International & European Associations Awards(link is external) and ‘Best use of social media’ with the 2016 WCC campaign at the 2017 Association Excellence Awards(link is external). \nThe event aims to strengthen the action and impact of the cancer community on national\, regional and international scales through its educational programme which spans the full spectrum of cancer – from prevention and treatment to palliative care. \nThe first International Cancer Congress was held in Madrid in 1933. It led to the foundation of the International Union Against Cancer in 1935\, renamed the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in 2010 and today’s proud winner of the International & European Association Award for Membership Engagement. \nThe WCC supports UICC‘s purpose statement ‘to unite the cancer community\, reduce the global cancer burden\, promote greater equity and integrate cancer into the world’s health and development agenda‘. \nThe event takes place every two years in a different country and is hosted by a local member of UICC.
