SUMMARY:Postdoctoral Scholar - Bioinformatics
DESCRIPTION:Statistical Bioinformatics Lab (http://www.healthcare.uiowa.edu/labs/au/) is seeking candidates for two postdoctoral research scholar positions to work on sequencing analyses: \n1) Postdoctoral Research Scholar in bioinformatics method development: We are looking for a postdoctoral scholar to develop statistical and computational/algorithmic methods for high-throughput sequencing data analyses\, such as RNA-seq using PacBio and Oxford Nanopore Technologies. \n2). Postdoctoral Research Scholar in computational biology: We are looking for a computational biology postdoctoral scholar to conduct cutting-edge research in the fields of transcriptome/epigenetics bioinformatics. He/she will apply bioinformatics methods to large-scale genomic and transcriptomic datasets to elucidate biological insights from stem cell biology and cancer biology. \nThe postdoctoral research scholars will have the opportunity to collaborate with internationally recognized biomedical scientists at University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine\, Stanford University\, University of Oxford and Pacific Biosciences. \nEducation Requirement: The applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics\, biostatistics or closely related fields. \nDesirable Qualifications: Strong ability in statistical analysis or computer programming (python/perl\, C/C++\, R) is desirable. \nThe Carver College of Medicine of University of Iowa is among the top ten public medical schools in\nNational Institutes of Health funding. The University-owned teaching hospital is one of the largest in\nthe United States. The Department of Internal Medicine and the College of Medicine house\ninternationally and nationally recognized centers across the biomedicine disciplines. The University\nof Iowa is located in Iowa City\, a vibrant community located in the rolling hills of southeastern Iowa.\nThe community offers excellent nationally ranked primary and secondary schools\, quality\nentertainment\, literary\, musical and cultural opportunities\, and Big 10 sporting events. Interested\ncandidates should send a CV and names of two referees to Prof. Kin Fai Au\, 3291 CBRB\, University\nof Iowa\, Iowa City\, IA\, 52242\, or email: kinfai-au@uiowa.edu
