SUMMARY:Postdoc Research Associate
DESCRIPTION:The Casey Laboratory at the University of Virginia seeks a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate in the area of cancer and stem cell research with a focus on molecular and cell biology and genomics. The candidate will join an interactive group of motivated scientists in the Center for Public Health Genomics (http://cphg.virginia.edu) at the University of Virginia to study the biology of genetic risk factors involved in colorectal cancer development.  \nOur approach integrates large amounts of genetic/genomic (for example RNA-Seq\, CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing and whole genome sequencing)\, epigenetic (for example ChIP-Seq and ATAC-Seq) and cell biology (normal human colon 3D organoid “mini-gut” models) approaches to interrogate the biological and mechanistic basis of inherited risk variants. Our goal is to understand the early changes in colon crypt stem cells leading to cancer development.  \nCandidates must have a PhD or MD degree in Molecular Biology\, Genetics\, Genomics\, or a related field in hand by start date. The successful candidate must have demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following: molecular and cell biology\, genetics\, genomics\, computational biology/bioinformatics. Experience in genomics and bioinformatics tools is highly preferred.
