DESCRIPTION:Postdoctoral Researcher positions are available in the Department of Pathology at Duke University School of Medicine. The laboratory currently focuses on genome-wide transcriptional regulation in hormone-dependent cancers (Chen Z et al. EMBO Journal\, 2015; Nature Communications\, 2015; Chen K et al. SUMMARY:Postdoctoral Scholar - Free Radical and Radiation Biology
DESCRIPTION:The University of Iowa’s Free Radical and Radiation Biology Program (FRRBP) invites applications from highly-motivated\, recent PHD graduates who have a background in free radical\, radiation\, and/or cancer biology to apply for our upcoming openings on our highly successful and long running NIH National Cancer Institute T32. As the only free radical and radiation biology PhD granting training program in the world\, we are at the forefront of redox biology\, free radical biology\, radiation biology\, and cancer research. The FRRBP is a division of the Department of Radiation Oncology and is part of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Carver College of Medicine. It is the only PhD granting program at the University of Iowa that is located in a clinical department. Since the Department of Radiation Oncology currently treats more than 1\,500 cancer patients a year\, this allows our trainees to have unique training opportunities for basic science that rapidly moves into translational research. \n\nDirected by Dr. Douglas R. Spitz\, the Free Radical and Radiation Biology Program has a dynamic mentoring program with highly committed faculty mentors. Our award winning and internationally recognized faculty are a very diverse group of basic scientists\, clinician/physician scientists\, and science educators who are focused on the disciplines of redox cancer biology\, metabolism in cancer therapy responses\, imaging of redox biochemistry\, normal tissue injury in cancer biology\, as well as redox regulation of the cell cycle\, radiation biology\, genetic and epigenetic regulation of cancer biology\, and redox regulation of cancer therapy responses. The goal of the mentors is to train our postdoctoral fellows in free radical and radiation biology relevant research with strong cancer relevance. The emphasis of all training will be the role of free radical and radiation biology in cancer diagnosis\, prevention\, and treatment. The specialized\, hands on training will lead to a successful career in cancer-related fields within biomedical research and education. \n\n Trainee Commitment: Postdoctoral Fellows must dedicate at least 40 hours per week (full-time effort) to the training program. These fellowship appointments are 12 month appointments; however appointments may be renewed for an additional two\, one-year increments\, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance. SUMMARY:Associate Manager – CHM
DESCRIPTION:The Associate Manager will work with an expanding team of research\, clinical and computational investigators working in cancer genomics under the auspices of the Center of Heme Malignancies\, the Department of Pediatrics and the Center for Molecular Oncology at MSKCC. \nWe have a strong research focus on pediatric and blood cancers. In our research we plan to prospectively profile all pediatric cancers by wholegenome\, as well as whole exome sequencing and RNA sequencing and study these alongside cell and patient derived xenograft models. To study the role of genetic and clonal heterogeneity in cancer we study spatially and temporally separated samples and accompany these by single cell derived experimental models. Additionally we routinely profile patients with advanced disease and no available therapeutic treatments\, patients with no known drivers as well as active patients on our clinical trials. \nOur mission is to establish a fully integrated research program that coordinates basic scientific discovery\, early-phase clinical trials\, and drug development. As part of the center’s clinical and research investigations we are generating a wealth of genomic annotation data to inform clinical decision support and develop diagnostic and disease surveillance assays informed by molecular markers. To this effect we are also developing novel methods such as deep molecular barcoding assays for monitoring minimal residual disease and or circulating tumor DNA. \nYou Will: \nThe Associate Manager in Computational Biology will have a strong track record on the development\, implementation and deployment of next generation sequencing pipelines. The candidate will have proven experience in the delivery of high-quality genome profiling analysis data to include wholgenome\, exome and panel sequencing and RNA-sequencing. The candidate will understand well key principles of genome profiling data (sources of error\, quality control\, variant annotation) and will be an expert in genome annotation methods to include variant calling (substitutions\, indels\, structural variation\, copy number alterations)\, assessment of purity and ploidy\, reconstruction of clonal phylogenies and assessment of gene expression. DESCRIPTION:The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and The University of North Carolina School of Medicine seek an exceptional physician scientist to lead our efforts in Cancer Precision Medicine. Over the past decade\, UNC Lineberger emerged as a leader in the NCI TCGA effort. We have developed an infrastructure for sequencing\, bioinformatic analyses\, molecular pathology\, and their application to patient care through a molecular tumor board. We now search for a translational scientist to head the clinical aspects of an expanding program. We are currently developing novel CLIA assays as well as methodologies to perform genomic analysis to identify somatic and germline mutations\, evaluate transcriptome expression using RNA-sequencing\, and characterize immune repertoires using next generation sequencing. We have developed robust applications for data analysis and anticipate that the person leading this group will utilize these other tools they develop to enhance personalized care for cancer patients and prospective clinical trials.
