The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center along with the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an exciting career opportunity for a Research Associate 2. This position will develop new projects aimed at understanding the epigenetic mechanisms deregulated in breast cancer and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. The Research Associate 2 will contribute to the University’s research activities under the supervision of senior staff. 

The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
  • Performing specialized and complex experiments.
  • Participating in the publication of significant research results.
  • Advancing expertise through education, training, and research.
  • Writing extramural proposals to gain support when appropriate.
  • Collecting, preparing, analyzing, dissecting, and evaluating specimens and tissue cultures.
  • Weighing and anesthetizing laboratory animals for experiments.
  • Operating sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment.
  • Performing calculations to complete research test results.
  • Performing photography and dark room processing.
  • Participating in training sessions and workshops.
  • Adhering to the University of Miami and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguarding University assets.



The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study as well as at least two years of relevant experience. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
