Research Assistant 1-B/H (Job Opening 450454) – Research Assistant 1-B/H to assist and provide support of research studies in investigating the epigenetic regulation of T cell function during infections and cancer as directed in the Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity; conducts planned research activities using observation, measurement and analytical techniques; prepares solutions and live culture media for scientific experiments; performs a variety of assays and experimental tests; collects, sorts and processes tissue and blood samples; records and consolidates research data; performs routine experimental procedures on laboratory animals including surgical procedures and/or administration of drugs; assists with care of laboratory animals; assists with preparation of data and materials for inclusion in research reports, publications and grant applications written by principal investigator; researches current scientific literature on specified topics; assists with instructing research aides, undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory procedures and operation of equipment; calibrates various laboratory equipment and operates microscopes, centrifuges and other laboratory equipment; assists with ordering, stocking and maintenance of research supplies.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
