Postdoctoral positions in cancer epigenetics are available in the laboratory of Dr. Rui Lu at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

The lab is interested in understanding epigenetic mechanisms underlying cancer development and developing targeted treatment strategies, with an emphasize on blood cancers such as acute myeloid leukemia. Using cellular, molecular and genomic approaches, our research focus on (1) understanding the molecular basis of driver mutations in cancer; (2) discovery of novel targets for cancer epigenetic therapies; (3) development of new epigenome editing tools to study gene regulation in normal and cancer cells. For reference please see recent publications: Molecular Cell 2013 49(3): 571-82; Cancer Cell 2016 30(1): 92-107; Nature 2018 554(7692): 387-391. Please visit our website www.lu-lag.orgto learn more about our research.

We are looking for researchers passionate in epigenetics, genomics, and cancer biology to join our team. Prior experience in epigenetics or cancer research is not essential. Candidates should have an MD or PhD degree or should be close to obtaining their doctoral degree. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to establish multidisciplinary collaborations and develop state-of-the-art genetic (CRISPR/Cas9, genome-wide screening) and genomic (ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, Hi-C, and eRRBS) technologies. UAB offers a competitive salary with excellent benefits package.

Interested applicants should apply directly to rlu.uab [AT] gmail.com by sending (1) a cover letter summarizing research interests and accomplishments, (2) a complete CV with a publication list, and (3) contact information for three references.
