Trialect has partnered with The Department of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, University of Ferrara, to provide short-term training fellowships in the area of genetics, cell and molecular biology, and biotechnology.

Specific Diseases:

• Genetic Disease: Thalassemia and Cystic Fibrosis.
• Oncology: Brain (glioma and neuroblastoma), breast and colon.

During this short-term fellowship program, you will be able to learn the following techniques.

Methods of analysis:

• Cystic fibrosis, thalassemia and cancer cell culture models,
• Treatment with compounds, (extracts from plants, new synthesis compounds, PNAs -peptide nucleic acids- antimicroRNA molecules)
• transfection,
• Analysis of microRNAs,
• Analysis of gene expression: transcripts and proteins,
• Analysis of apoptosis,
• Analysis of cytokines.

Techniques: Proliferative and cytotoxic tests, RT-qPCR, Digital PCR, cytofluorimetry FACS and MUSE analysis, Luminex analysis, Fluorescence analysis (Biostation and Fluorescence microscope), Western Blotting.

You will also be taught how to use online sites for bioinformatics and gene analysis, microRNA, RNA, DNA and proteins inclduding UCSC, NCBI; targetscan, microrna.org, miRTarBase, miRWalk, Diana Tools, Mirecords; UNAFOLD, ViennaRNA, TFsearch, Targetscan)

• Service fee : $200 (after you are accepted for fellowship program)

• Cost of lab expendables and equipment:
  • $300 for simple observership program
  • $600 for intensive 2 week program
  • $990 for 6 week fellowship program- ideal to get some perspective about the techniques (Your lab expendable are all included in this budget)
  • $1880 for 12 week fellowship program – designed for fellows who would want to co-author a manuscript and get a comprehensive grip over the techniques used.
• You have to take care of travel and accommodation, which is around $100-200 per week.
