Senior Scientific Researcher
April 12, 2018 - May 14, 2018
We are seeking a Senior Scientific Researcher in the Department of Molecular Biology to support the production and optimization of genetically-modified cellular models. This position will be within the newly-established Cell Engineering Lab, wherein she/he will facilitate the design, execution, and validation of cell line engineering projects initiated by researchers across Genentech – with the ultimate goal of generating more effective in vitro/ex vivo disease models and novel contexts for functional genomic screening. The candidate is expected to work creatively and independently within an extremely dynamic, collaborative research environment.
Who You Are
A self-motivated candidate with a PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, or a related discipline. Qualified candidates will have a skillset demonstrating successful, documented application of molecular genetics/genome engineering either in cell-based systems or model organisms. Preferred expertise includes some or all of the following: DNA nucleases, 2D and 3D cell culture, RNA interference (siRNA/shRNA), reporter gene assays, primary and/or stem cell models, molecular cloning, RNA/DNA/protein quantification, epigenetics, and viral vector development/use. Working knowledge of pooled vector-based screening, Next-Gen Sequencing (NGS), biostatistics, and/or basic bioinformatics is desirable. The successful candidate will be team-oriented, highly organized, and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
