The Kladde lab at the UF Health Cancer Center in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is currently accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate.  The lab investigates mechanisms of epigenetic dysregulation in cancer, focusing on establishment and maintenance of epigenetic gene silencing during cancer progression.

Duties will include:

  • Determining the molecular basis of epigenetic changes during progression of breast and colon cancer in the genomes of cultured cells and patient-derived tumors.
  • Development of innovative, single-molecule epigenetic assays of DNA methylation and chromatin structure; analysis of protein-DNA interactions in vitro and in vivo, e.g., by chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP); and genome editing by CRISPR/Cas9 to test the functional relevance of regulatory sequences.
  • Researching, interpreting, and critically evaluating primary literature; compiling and analysis of data; and maintaining a complete, accurate, and up-to-date lab notebook.
  • Preparing and editing manuscripts for publication for dissemination of results as well as applications for grants and patents in consultation with the supervisor.
  • Supervising and training of graduate students (PhD and Master’s level), undergraduates, and student workers.

Minimum requirements: PhD or an MD/PhD degree in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline. Applicants should have excellent communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to work flexible hours depending on specific experiments.

Preferred qualifications: Experience in protein biochemistry (e.g., nucleosome reconstitution and/or protein overexpression) or epigenomics (e.g., ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, bisulfite sequencing, bioinformatics).
