The Fan lab at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC) is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated research scientist to join our research team. The successful applicant will work closely with Dr. Fan and research fellows in the lab in the ongoing research in epigenetics. This individual is expected to keep daily laboratory notes. Other responsibilities include ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, ensuring laboratory compliance and teaching new lab members. 

Successful candidate may be required to submit to a pre-placement medical clearance through Employee Occupational Health Services depending on location and nature of position

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree; no previous experience required.  Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: 

·         BS or MS in biology, biotechnology or related field.

·         Experience in molecular biology or biochemistry research.

·         Able to work independently without continuous supervision

·         Willing to help and interact with other lab members

·         Able to interact successfully and productively with core facilities in the center.

·         Self-motivated, excited about research and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.

Finalists should be prepared to provide official educational transcripts if selected for hire. Applicants must provide names of 3 past or present supervisors as references that the hiring official can contact.
