The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Sr. Research Associate. The incumbent performs laboratory assignments, including the planning and conducting of projects related to cell culture and molecular biology. Schedule and perform experiments in research laboratory. Solve problems in scientific and technical execution, interpret experimental data and maintain accurate records. Assist in the preparation of data and figures for manuscripts and for scientific presentations using Photoshop/Illustrator Adobe. Search literature for references to technical problems and keep informed by reading technical journal and publications. Present data in laboratory meetings and other venues. Ensure and document laboratory adherence to safety standards, especially in the use of hazardous items. Assist with the implementation of new program and initiatives. Responsible for developing and preparing PowerPoint presentations. Assist in the review and preparation of manuscripts for submission to journals.Other duties as assigned. Education & Experience: Master’s Degree required preferably, with at least 2 years laboratory experience in a relevant discipline in cell/molecular biology, pathology, stem cell or breast/ovarian cancer research. Must have broad knowledge of carcinoma or related fields of cancer research as well as experience in human cell/tissue culture, molecular biological techniques, and experimental experience with animal models and studies in epigenetics.
The minimum qualifications are: Master’s degree required preferably, with at least 2 years of laboratory experience in a relevant discipline in cell / molecular biology, pathology, stem cell or breast / ovarian cancer research. Must have broad knowledge of carcinoma or related fields of cancer research as well  as experience in human / cell tissue culture, molecular biological techniques and experimental experience with animal models and studies in epigenetics. Ability to plan, organize and meet deadline; highly motivated, must be detail oriented, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills.Knowledge of PC software programs: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, SPSS is an asset. Need the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently.Must be able to apply logic and demonstrate problem-solving techniques. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
