I’m Beyza Bürüngüz Schmidt, I am 35, and I am from in Istanbul, Turkey. I’m a person who takes good care of her health and generally-speaking interested in holistic health.

I hold a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Istanbul Yeditepe University (Turkey) and a Certificate in Business from Vancouver English Center (BC, Canada). Interested in advertising, I competed in 2004 and won a competition organized by the Turkish Advertising Foundation for the best advertising campaign on CNNturk website. I moved to Austria in 2007 to continue my education and obtained an MBA from Megatrend University (Vienna, Austria).

I have had the privilege to work at some great international organizations, including the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). My work in these organizations gave me a greater understanding and appreciation for diversity and various cultures.

I have always been keen on helping in any way I can, and I have for example during my studies joined various volunteer groups at the university to support students in various activities. I have also been engaged for years in animal causes and volunteered to shelter and feed stray animals in Turkey. I also worked to get the government to enact new laws to protect animals. This summer I am enrolling into a 3-year program studying the Grinberg method to help people overcome pain, fear, and other negative psychological conditions.

My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2016 and I’ve been involved ever since in helping him manage his condition, currently through immunotherapy and chemotherapy. Six months ago, I became Editor of the Turkish language page Kansere Hayır of No to Cancer, the largest multilingual health news initiative launched by the Cancer Epigenetics Society. Being part of this project is a great opportunity for me to improve my knowledge of cancer and to help cancer patients and their loved ones.

Please support my work and cancer patients in Turkey and around the world by giving Kansere Hayır a page “Like” on Facebook.
