Postdoctoral Associate – Cancer Research

The laboratory of Dr. Enrique Mesri at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Department of Microbiology and Immunology and the Tumor Biology Program of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Michael Samuels of the Department of Radiation Oncology, has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate with relevant experience. This position will lead a project evaluating key viral, genomic, and epigenetic correlates of clinical presentation and outcomes of HPV-associated oropharynx cancer. Work includes, but is not limited to, analysis of tumor samples and biological fluids derived from ongoing clinical studies.Â
The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Ph.D., M.D., or other doctoral level degree in a related field of life science study. Possess a strong background and first author publication(s) in cancer biology, virology, molecular and cellular biology, or a closely related field of study. Prefer experience working with cell, animal, or clinical models in virally induced human cancers. Applicants with experience, or who are familiar with bioinformatic tools (particularly next generation sequencing data analysis), are encouraged to apply. Must be goal-oriented, proactive, and hardworking with excellent organizational skills and a passion for making a difference in cancer research. Ability to manage day-to-day operations of the laboratory, mentoring new staff, and assisting senior researchers in their presentation and funding efforts. A highly motivated individual is sought who can work effectively in a team as well as independently.
