Postdoctoral Fellow – Molecular Oncology
May 3, 2017 - June 3, 2017
A postdoctoral positionĀ is available in the laboratory of Dr. Florian Karreth at the Moffitt Cancer Center. The Karreth lab combines innovative mouse modeling approaches with molecular biology and biochemistry techniques to better understand the crosstalk between oncogenic signaling and non-coding RNAs in the development, progression, and resistance of cancer.
We are particularly interested in identifying and characterizing protein-coding and non-coding genes that cooperate with oncogenic MAPK signaling to promote tumor progression and drug resistance, with an emphasis on melanoma. Moreover, we are studying the oncogenic functions of lncRNAs in ovarian cancer. For more information visit our lab website at http://labpages2.moffitt.org/karreth.
We seek a talented and dedicated individual with an interest in characterizing proteins that promote the progression and drug resistance of melanoma. Ā
Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, have a proven track record of scientific productivity, and be able to work collaboratively in a team. Ā Ā Experience in mouse modeling and/or oncogenic signaling is highly desirable. Ā Ā We also seek a talented and dedicated individual with an interest in understanding how ovarian cancer risk SNPs affect lncRNAs expression and function.
Successful candidates will work independently and collaboratively, design and execute experiments, and analyze and interpret data. He/She will present his/her findings to the lab during weekly lab meetings, to the Moffitt community at research-in-progress meetings, and to the international community at conferences. He/She will author grants and manuscripts, and mentor students.
Ph.D. or M.D., preferably not received more than two years ago.
The outstanding research environment includes a new dedicated research building, state-of-the-art core facilities (e.g. Molecular Genomics, Flow Cytometry, Proteomics, Microscopy, Transgenic), a modern vivarium, and access to clinical material. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered to the successful candidate. Interested applicants should email a letter describing their interest and previous experience as well as a CV including the names and contact information of three references to florian.karreth@moffitt.org.
The H. Lee Moffitt Cancer and Research Institute is a modern facility in Tampa, Florida.Ā We strive to be the leader in understanding in the complexity of cancer through team science and applying those insights for human benefits.Ā Be part of the cure by joining Moffitt’s team of 800 research faculty scientists, career staff scientists, postdocs, graduate students and support staff dedicated to cancer research.
