Providence is calling a full time, day shift Visiting Fellow to Providence John Wayne Cancer Institute Santa Monica, CA.

In this position you will:

  • Observe clinical and intraoperative management of intracranial disease.
  • Observe and participate in basic science research projects including genetic and epigenetic evaluation of metastatic brain tumors and benign intracranial lesions.
  • Be in the neuroanatomy lab and participate with the dissections.
  • Participate in clinical studies including chart reviews and case series analyzing intracranial disease characteristics and outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Completed the equivalent of undergraduate education and medical school with a doctor of medicine degree.
  • Experience in the field of neurological surgery. He should be in the process of completing a residency in that field.
  • Competent in the English language with verbal, writing, and communication skills.
  • Scientific publication experience is recommended.
  • Ability to deal effectively with many people across a broad range of cultural backgrounds and ages.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Proficient in P.C. software applications including, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to work effectively with many people at various levels of the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and appropriately prioritize.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, patients, co-workers, management, physicians, and visitors.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance to hospital policy.
